How to Search Cases by Name
Arkansas Judiciary runs a public case-information service called Search ARCourts. When you have no case number, begin with the Participants route. Type the legal filing name exactly. Run a person and an organization or case description as separate passes rather than one. From there, narrow by Montgomery County, court location, case type, status, or a useful date span. Names of one or two characters act as exact searches under the official navigation guidance; three or more characters return exact and partial matches alike.
- Open Search ARCourts and choose the participant search route.
- Enter last and first names, or search an organization with one or two key words.
- Set Montgomery County and choose Circuit or District Court when the filter appears.
- Compare court, case type, filing date, and status before opening a result.
- Open the case detail and read events, docket entries, and disposition together.
The official search interface opens with a blank public entry point, the same starting screen a Montgomery County case lookup uses.
Its opening routes make the first decision plain. Search by participant when you lack an identifier, then add detail to weed out false matches.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Search by | Selector or tabs | One route | Participants and other routes appear as the responsive app permits. |
| First, Middle, Last Name | Text | Route dependent | Use legal spelling; middle name can narrow common names. |
| Organization or Case Description | Text | Alternative | Use the filed business or agency name. |
| Court or Location | Filter | Not stated | Choose Montgomery and the correct court level. |
| Case Type, Date, Status | Filters | Not stated | Availability changes with the selected route. |
Montgomery County Case Search Routes
Montgomery County has no separate local vendor portal. Search ARCourts serves as both the statewide layer and the online route for participating county records, having replaced Public CourtConnect in January 2024. Keep it separate from Arkansas eFlex. That platform is an authenticated workspace where filers submit and serve documents. It is not the public docket screen. Any account costs there cover filing tools, not access to public case information. Search ARCourts lets you sort columns, apply per-column filters, resize columns, and show 25, 50, or 100 rows. Those controls earn their keep with a common surname. The public access disclaimer still applies, however. An online entry may omit a document image or a protected detail. It is case information, not a clerk-certified copy.
Montgomery County Organization Case Search
For organizations, enter one or two key words as the name appears in the court file. Search the organization apart from any person's name. Then trim the results with Montgomery County, court level, and a date span. A trade name, an abbreviation, or a stray punctuation mark can hide the entry you expected. If the organization still fails to appear, try the case description route. Ask the proper clerk to check the filed caption. Also ask whether an older index sits outside current online coverage.
How to Search by Case Number
An exact case number is the best key. Copy every dash and character from a notice, file stamp, citation, or clerk receipt. Montgomery County Circuit categories may carry the county prefix. Case type clues look like 49CR, 49CV, 49DR, or 49PR. Arkansas formats vary by court, case type, and system generation. Treat those prefixes as identifiers, never as a made-up full number. When an exact search fails, remove punctuation only if the interface invites it. Then confirm the court level: a Circuit Court felony, major civil, domestic-relations, probate, or juvenile case, or a District Court traffic, misdemeanor, small-claims, or limited civil matter. The proper clerk can verify an identifier the portal rejects.
Montgomery County Case Search Filters
Set the county before trusting any common-name result. Another Arkansas county can hold a case with similar parties and a similar type. Next, check the court label. Montgomery County Circuit Court sits in the Eighteenth West Judicial Circuit, while the Mount Ida Department of the 24th State District Court handles the lower-level docket. A felony does not become a District Court case just because both clerks work at the same highway address. For organizations, search a short, meaningful phrase on its own. When too many hits remain, add a filing or event date span and case category. When nothing remains, drop the most narrow filter first. That approach tests your terms instead of assuming the case is absent.
What a Case Search Shows
A result row is only a route into the record. Open the case detail itself. Read the header, participants, charges or issues, events, docket entries, settings, published financial data, and disposition as one set. An old hearing line is history if a later continuance or reset appears, and a filing label proves only that an event was recorded. It says nothing about what the judge ruled.
| Case header | Case number, style or description, court, type, filing date, status, and judicial officer when published. |
|---|---|
| Participants | Names by role and attorney fields where the case and public-access level allow them. |
| Events and settings | Date, event type, time, room, location, and judge where entered. |
| Docket entries | Chronological filing date and description; an entry does not guarantee a public image. |
| Charges or issues | Criminal counts and dispositions, or civil party roles and case type. |
| Disposition | Recorded outcome and date where entered; criminal counts can resolve in different ways. |
The Search ARCourts public access notice is part of the official lookup experience.
The notice drives the point home. Public case data must be checked against the clerk's maintained file whenever a copy or current setting carries legal weight.
Montgomery County Case Result Path
Read a case in layers. Start with the result row, then the case header, participants, future events, docket entries, and finally the disposition. Each layer answers one question. The header pins down identity. Events give you a setting. Docket entries list the acts filed in the case. The disposition is the outcome the court entered for the case or a count.
A Documents cell may show a label like WEB, another linked label, or nothing public at all. If the image is missing, the docket entry still stands. Write down the date and the exact description. Then ask the Circuit Clerk or District Court clerk for that item. One caution: a public printout is not automatically certified.
County vs Statewide Case Search
Montgomery County relies on the statewide Search ARCourts service. It runs no second county portal. So the real comparison is statewide public retrieval against the county clerk's source record. Online search is fast and free for discovery. The clerk covers what the screen cannot: older records, filed pages left off the system, and authenticated copies.
| Search ARCourts | Montgomery County Clerk Record |
|---|---|
| Searches participating Arkansas courts | Covers the maintained file for the selected local court |
| Useful for names, numbers, status, and docket events | Useful for filed documents, old files, and exact certification |
| May exclude protected data or images | Applies the same access rules to the source file |
| Free public case-information view | Copy and certification fees require a current quote |
Begin online. When a task needs a filed page, an old index, or a certified record, go to the clerk who holds it.
Montgomery County Case Search Changes
Arkansas launched Search ARCourts in January 2024, replacing Public CourtConnect. The technology work never stopped. The ARCourts Build Initiative lays out the court-management modernization effort, with beta demonstrations planned for 2026. Screens and menu names may shift. The clerk's record stays the authority. The official technology page shows that ongoing court-system work.
That modernization explains why saved instructions go stale. It does not create a new county-only search portal for Montgomery County.
Montgomery County Case Search Fallback
A blank result is not proof that no case exists. Check your spelling and the court level. Search an organization by itself. Drop any narrow date or status filter. Try the exact case number. Older court records may sit on paper, microfilm, or off site, beyond online coverage. Public-terminal availability is not confirmed, so call ahead before planning to use one.
For Circuit Court cases, contact the Montgomery County Circuit Clerk at 870-867-3521 or visit 105 Highway 270 East, #10, Mount Ida. For District Court cases, call the Mount Ida District Court clerk at 870-867-2221. Suite #2 shares the same street address. Mail works too. Ask about price, payment, return postage, and handling time first. The Circuit Clerk also lists fax 870-867-2177, though fax acceptance for copy orders must be confirmed.
Restricted Cases and Access Rules
Arkansas Supreme Court Administrative Order 19 keeps protected information out of public view. Juvenile and adoption matters stay closed. So do sealed records and protected family details. Social Security numbers, account numbers, and similar confidential material may be omitted or redacted. So a blank search tells you nothing firm. The matter may never have existed. It may be indexed another way or lawfully restricted.
A party or lawyer may see what the public cannot. Ask the clerk what proof of identity or authority is required. A nonparty generally cannot break a seal with a routine records request. The Montgomery County clerk must follow the governing statute or order.
Montgomery County Case Access Limits
Public metadata and public document images are two different things. A case can appear in the docket. Meanwhile an exhibit, a protected address, a minor's identity, or a filed page stays closed. The Arkansas Code holds the child and adoption confidentiality provisions. Court-file access is governed chiefly by Administrative Order 19 and court authority. A simple executive-agency request is not what controls it.
Missing or restricted result: Verify court, spelling, year, and number first. Then ask the correct clerk whether the period is online and whether access is restricted.
Ask for the access rule or order, plus any process open to an authorized party. Never press counter staff for protected details.
Montgomery County Case Lookup Contacts
The court level decides whom to call. Regina Powell's Circuit Clerk office maintains Circuit criminal, civil, domestic-relations, probate, and juvenile cases. Chief Clerk Crystal Carlton's District Court office handles traffic, misdemeanor, and violation cases. It also takes small-claims and limited civil cases. The judge sets hearings; the clerk records the filed setting. Once you find a case, turn to the Montgomery County court record search. It covers the broader filing history.
